THE SOUL OF THE CHIEF INTERCESSOR

by Prophet Angela Powers

As intercessor's if we are looking for a model for successful intercession the archetype of our prayer employ is none other than Jesus Christ himself. He is the first model to be studied amongst the many other intercessors of scripture. I refer to Christ as The Chief Intercessor because scripture states:

[Heb 7:25 KJV] 25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. Christ ever lives to make intercession. It is one of his everlasting employs.

If we want to be effectual in prayer mechanics and manifestors of the products of the Sovereign will. The we must endeavor to develop the soul of the Chief Intercessor. We must endeavor to probe the soulogical infirmities of our life's journey so that our adversary has no snare or opportunity concerning us. As a matter of fact, scripture states the following:

[Psa 143:3 KJV] 3 For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath smitten my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead.

The adversary often picks fights with our soul. Many theologians ascribe the moniker "enemy of your soul" to Satan. The soul is central to the continuum of our Sovereign. The soul is a part of the makeup of man and it is the instrument whereby we express the things that our spirit man and/or our heart contains, When your adversary is looking for a way to gain power of you he probes your soul. Remember when Christ said:

[Luk 22:31-32 KJV] 31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired [to have] you, that he may sift [you] as wheat: 32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

Satan desired to probe Simon's soul that he might find a place of occupancy, in order to influence Peter's ability to manifest the Sovereign will. The places in our soul where the enemy CAN FIND HIMSELF will be the places where GOD CANNOT. Christ the Chief Intercessor was able to make this statement as recorded in John 14:30:

"I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me;"

Christ was able to say there is nothing that is of the enemy that can be found in me. What a challenge!

Yet the intercessor must endeavor to take the posture of the Apostle Paul when he stated that he "pressed toward the mark of the high calling in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 3:14) It is a high calling to make the level of commitment to probe your soul with regiment and discipline to purge it of territory that could be occupied by the enemy. Yet that is the model that the archetype Jesus Christ, The Chief Intercessor, sets before us. His soul was so fit for the Sovereign's use that scripture states that the Father could satisfy the travail of it!

[Isa 53:11 KJV] 11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, [and] shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

Not just the travail of His SPIRIT, but the travail of His SOUL could be satisfied by the Sovereign. What a powerful thought! How many of us can say that our soul is safe and purged enough that heaven can attend to it. That takes major overhaul and conversion. That takes not just willingness, as in the spirit is willing, but empowerment; through education, training, mentoring and development. This is no doubt a arduous process. I lie to you not.

[Isa 53:12 KJV] 12 Therefore will I divide him [a portion] with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

He poured out his soul unto death. Why would scripture say that he "poured out" his soul? Because the soul must be poured out. He poured out a perfect soul. You and I must first pour out our corrupted one; our corrupted sin data that impedes the soul’s partnership with the travail of our spirits. As we do, we are converted to the soul image of the Chief Intercessor Jesus Christ. I digress. Until next time…

Do you have Christ's soul of intercession?
